The government allocates extra funding - totaling £150 million each year - to enhance the quality of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced, meaning it can only be used to support PE and sporting activities.

Schools have the flexibility to decide how best to use this funding to benefit their pupils. At Gorse Hill Primary, our focus is on making long-lasting improvements to the quality of PE and sport, ensuring all children have opportunities to develop skills, enjoy physical activity, and lead healthy, active lives.

At Gorse Hill Primary, Physical Education is an important part of school life. We are proud to offer enriching PE lessons for all pupils from Reception to Year 6, giving every child the opportunity to develop their skills, enjoy being active, and cultivate a love of sport.

Our pupils regularly have the chance to represent the school in a variety of sporting events and team competitions, helping them build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of achievement. In addition to lessons, we offer a wide range of after-school sports, including football for both girls and boys, cricket, athletics, gymnastics, and dance, ensuring every child can find an activity they enjoy.

Through these experiences, we aim to encourage all children to stay active, healthy, and engaged in sport throughout their time at Gorse Hill.
