School Council

Welcome to the School Council

Our School Council plays an important role in ensuring that every child’s voice is heard and valued. We believe that pupils should have the opportunity to share their ideas, express their opinions, and help shape decisions that make our school an even better place to learn and grow.

Each year, children are democratically elected by their classmates to represent their class. Our councillors take their responsibility seriously – listening carefully to their peers, discussing key issues, and working together to bring about positive change within our school community.

The School Council is involved in:

  • Promoting and embedding our school values
  • Supporting charitable fundraising events
  • Organising competitions and whole-school activities
  • Sharing pupil voice on important local and national matters
  • Working alongside staff to improve school life

We are proud of the leadership, teamwork, and confidence our councillors demonstrate. Through the School Council, our pupils learn about democracy, responsibility, and active citizenship – skills that will support them well beyond primary school.

School Council Plans 2025/2026

Autumn 1

Children will decide whether they would like to become members of the School Council and explain their reasons. Class representatives will then be elected through a democratic vote in each classroom.

Autumn 2

Children’s Voices Conference 2025 – Pupils will participate in a Youth Cabinet conference, sharing their views on issues that are important to them and contributing ideas on how Trafford funding should be allocated. Topics previously included mental health, safer street parking, park accessibility, and more.

Spring 1

Children will help to shape, introduce, and embed our new school values within the wider school community.

Spring 2

Ongoing work to further develop, promote, and establish our new school values across the school.

Pupils will promote the Spring Egg Decorating Competition, judge the entries, and lead a whole-school assembly to present prizes.

Fundraising activities will include an Easter Egg Raffle.

Summer 1

Summer fundraising events, including Break the Rules Day and a cake/ice lolly sale.

Summer 2

To be confirmed.
