Mathematics

*  multiplication and division

•Fractions

•Length and Perimeter

•Mass

•Capacity

English

This term we have already looked at some of the features of persuasive writing and have used these in our own adverts about helpful robots. We even turned our attention to plastic pollution and gathered some information about this issue as part of our Environmental Awareness studies. We have looked at fiction texts aswell, and have been learning how to write our own warning story, concentrating on the correct use of inverted commeas, adverbials of time, and similies and descriptive language.

Science

This term we will be looking at plants, building upon our existing knowledge from KS1. We will begin to learn about the requirements for growth, the transportation of water and the pollination and fertilisation process.

Geography

This term we will be building upon our existing knowledge of the UK by developing our mapping skills, locational and place knowledge. We will identify regions and cities and look at mountains and rivers in the UK. We will enhance our fieldwork skills by looking at four figure grid references,  OS maps, and even create our own maps using symbols and keys.

DT

We will be looking at free standing structures and will be designing and building our own photograph frames. We will learn technical woodwork skills as we saw, glue and staple our frames together.

Art

We will be looking at patterns this term – distinguishing between natural and man made patterns. We will look at some significant artists such as Georgia O’Keefe, Van Gogh and Kandinsky. We will be experimenting with tools to make patterns that will enable us to create our own masterpiece!
